Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers, no jargon, no pressure.

What is legacy planning?
Legacy planning means deliberately deciding how your wealth, your business, and — just as importantly — your values are passed to the people and causes you care about. It covers retirement income, inheritance, business continuity, and charitable giving, arranged so each strengthens rather than competes with the others.
Do I need to be wealthy to start?
No. Dynasties are deliberately planned — and the best plans start before the wealth peaks, not after. Whether you are building your first fortune or stewarding an established one, the earlier the structure is in place, the more options your family keeps.
What happens in the first conversation?
We listen. You share what matters to you and what you have in place today; we offer an objective second opinion that is in your interests. There is no pressure to start or buy anything. Specific recommendations only come later, after a proper review of your circumstances and needs.
What is the US $2.5 Trillion wealth transfer?
As Asia's population ages, wealth built by one generation is passing to the next. Wealth-X puts the Asian share of that handover at around US $2.5 trillion by 2030 — part of US $18.3 trillion globally. Families that plan deliberately decide where their share goes; families that don't leave it to chance, cost, and conflict. Source: Wealth-X, via Bank of Singapore.
Who are Eddie & Jireh?
A father-and-son team of 2nd generational advisors. We have assisted many families to be stewards of wealth for coming to 30 years — protecting and guiding families to highs, and walking with them especially through the lows. Today the same families are served across two generations, just as we plan across theirs.
What does "Christian Marketplace Advisor" mean?
It describes how we work, not who we work with. We serve families of every background, and we hold ourselves to the standard of Colossians 3:23 — putting heart and soul into every plan as though doing it for the Lord himself, not merely for others.
How are you licensed, and who do you represent?
Jireh is a licensed representative of Prudential Assurance Company Singapore (Pte) Limited, regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore under the Financial Advisers Act and the Insurance Act. Planning conversations begin with your circumstances and needs.
How do we start?

Understanding Life Insurance

The building blocks, in plain words

What is whole life insurance?
Permanent cover designed to stay in place for the rest of your life. As long as premiums are paid, the policy is designed to pay out the sum assured on death. Because the payout is a matter of when, not if, whole life cover costs more than term cover — and many whole life policies also build a cash value over time.
What is term life insurance?
Cost-effective cover for a fixed period — commonly matched to a specific responsibility with a known timeframe, like the years until your children are independent. If the insured passes during the term, it pays the sum assured; after the term ends, cover ends. Term policies build no cash value, which is what keeps them affordable.
What is decreasing term insurance, and when is it used?
A term policy whose payout reduces over time, typically matched to a debt that is itself shrinking — most commonly a home loan. Because the insurer's exposure falls each year, it costs less than level term cover. It's the practical answer to "what happens to the mortgage if something happens to me?"
What is a participating plan?
A plan whose returns come in two layers: guaranteed benefits written into the contract, plus non-guaranteed bonuses that depend on the performance of the insurer's participating fund. The guaranteed layer is the floor you can count on; the non-guaranteed layer is the upside that history suggests but no one can promise.
What decides the premium I pay?
Insurers price cover on factors including age, gender, smoking status, medical history, occupation and hobbies, the amount of cover, and the type of policy. The practical takeaway: cover is cheapest the day you're youngest and healthiest — which is always today.
